Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: September 17, 2025

Classics Pace Match Play Tournament consisting of group match play in groups of 4 players (and 3 players as well if the total number of players is not divisible by 4) on classics games (games that don’t have a DMD or LCD) only. Maximum of 24 players are allowed in the tournament. Cost to enter: $10. Tournament will be held at Eight on the Break in Dunellen, NJ starting at 7:30 PM. No preregistration necessary.

The scoring system used will be 7-5-3-1. For 4-player groups, first place gets 7 points, second place gets 5 points, third place gets 3 points, and last place gets 1 point. For 3-player groups, first place gets 7 points, second place gets 4 points, and last place gets 1 point. When a two-player group comes into play, the scoring is 7 points to the winner and 1 point to the loser of the game. The MatchPlay software will handle the scoring for each player.

Every player will play 4 rounds initially. The initial pace is 16 and any player who doesn’t have at least that many points after round 4 will be eliminated. The pace goes up by 6 points in each subsequent round and players who don’t have enough points at least equal to the current pace after a particular round will be eliminated. For example, after round 5, players who don’t have 22 points are eliminated; players who don’t have 28 points after round 6 will be eliminated and so on. Play continues until there is one player left. This tournament will have no final.

For the first round, players will be randomly assigned to groups. . For subsequent rounds, players will be paired using balanced pairing.

Top 4 players get a medal and the top 4-8 players (depending on the number of players participating) get a cash prize as well.
