Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: October 05, 2025
This is an IFPA-sanctioned women's pinball tournament in Fayetteville, AR at David's Arcade! All skill levels and ages 16+ are welcome to join! Message for the address if you need it!
If we have enough players, we will be doing a Critical Hit tournament - the first one held in Arkansas! This is a chaotically fun and different way to approach pinball. If we do not have enough players, we will pivot to either regular matchplay or max matchplay depending on the number of participants!
Prior to the start of the tournament, every player will receive at least one Critical Hit card. Qualitying will run for 3 hours, players will be randomly assigned to groups of 3 or 4 to a random machine.
At the beginning of each round, players will have an opportunity to play (cast) any appropriate pre-round card. Note that some cards are intended to be cast prior to a round; some during a round, and some at the end of a round. Following the pre-round casting phase, each player in a group will roll a D20 die to determine choice of player order with the higher number getting first choice of order. In the event of a tie those players will re-roll until the tie is broken. If a player rolls a Critical Hit (20) that player will have the option of changing the machine to any tournament machine (of the same category) that is not already in use by another group.
During the round, players will have the opportunity to cast any appropriate cards in their possession. At the end of the game, players will have an opportunity to cast any appropriate end-of-game cards. Scoring will be 7-5-3-1 for 4 player groups and 7-4-1 for 3 player groups.
The last place player in each group will be awarded one additional card (subject to card availability). There will be additional opportunities to earn additional cards via machine-specific "bounties" that will be displayed on the machines (subject to card availability).
After each round players will be randomly reassigned in balanced fashion and play will continue as above until the qualifying period has ended. Any unused cards will carry over to the finals.
Note: The casting of some cards may be restricted per the TD's discretion; ie, Insanity may be played no more than twice per round.
Top half or fewer will continue to finals, where play shall continue in a similar fashion to qualifying, and players will have opportuniities to cast cards likewise to qualifying (although some cards may be inactivated for finals).
There is a $10 entry fee to David's Arcade to cover the IFPA fee, pizza, snacks, and drinks, and the machines are set to free play.
Those who are qualified to play in women's tournaments are welcome and encouraged to join the IFPA competition, and if you do not qualify to play in the tournament, you are welcome to come as a spectator to support us, and you will be able to play any of the machines not in use during a round (you must be willing to walk away from a ball in play if that machine is needed for the tournament).
*we use an inclusive definition of "woman", and we welcome cis and trans women, and non-binary players comfortable in a women-centered experience
