Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: October 08, 2016
This is the "Pinball Pinball Pinball" format we used for our August tournament last year. Guaranteed 4 hours of play time (other than the recouping time spent in the queue) with a meal break between the two 2-hour sessions. A and B division finals will happen at the end of the second 2-hour session, with the number of finalists determined by turnout.
Head-to-head match play on a bank of machines such that approximately 1/4 of the players will be in the queue area. The number of and specific machines will be selected based on the number of attendees, with a preference given to machines with quick ball times. It's possible that traditionally longer playing machines (e.g,, Star Trek) will be set to 2 balls if they will be used at all.
At the end of each game, the winner gets one point. The loser stays at the game unless they've lost twice in a row, in which case the winner stays. The player staying on the game plays in the same position (1up/2up) as they were already. The first player from the queue comes and plays that player; the player that left the game records the win and loss on a master list and goes to the back of the queue.
At the end of the time period, no more games may start. Finalists are determined via highest number of points, and ties are broken by fewest losses.
Schedule: 12 pm Session 1 start; 2 pm meal break; 3:30 pm Session 2 start; 6:30 pm playoff start
