Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: March 04, 2017
Need some motivation to help you shed those extra holiday season pounds? The Biggest Flippin’ Loser (TBFL) is a new tournament specifically designed with an incentive to get in shape.
FORMAT: TBFL is a one day tournament consisting of open qualifying best game format followed by a match play finals (similar to INDISC). Participants can earn FREE entries by losing weight. Each pound lost by a player is good for one free qualifying entry. Additional entries can be purchased.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR STARTING WEIGHT: Beginning January 1, 2017 you can submit your starting weight (which will be kept private at your discretion) by e-mailing a photo of yourself on a scale displaying your weight. You may choose to send this to either Kyle Smith (krs10025@gmail.com) or Anne Bush (a.m.bush99@gmail.com). Please include "The Biggest Flippin’ Loser" in the Subject line of your email. Anne and I will keep separate lists of participant weights, so if a girl who doesn’t want their weight to be known by a guy or vice versa, fear not - it won’t be. Your final weight will be taken when you show up to the tournament to determine how much weight you've lost, how many free entries you've earned, and whether you've qualified for a special side tournament (see below).
PHOTO WEIGH IN GUIDELINES:
• Please remove your shoes for the weigh in.
• Please wear the same clothes or a similar type of clothes that you plan to wear to the tournament. If you wear jeans and a heavy sweater for the weigh in photo but show up in shorts and a tank top for the tournament, the tournament director may add weight to your tournament day weigh in result to maintain fairness.
• Your photo should include your face so that we can verify that it is actually you on the scale. You may need to send multiple pictures so that we can see both you and the weight on the scale clearly. An example of good weigh in pictures are pinned in the Event post below. The example pics are selfie style, but feel free to have someone take your picture if you prefer.
TOURNAMENT DAY DETAILS:
• Registration will begin at 10am on Saturday March 4, 2017.
• The registration fee is $10, which includes 5 entries.
• Additional entries can be purchased: 1 for $3, 5 for $10, OR 12 for $20.
• Qualifying will take place in best game format beginning at 10am and ending promptly at 4:15pm.
• The qualifying bank of games will include 7+ pins to choose from of which only your top 4* games will count toward your qualifying point total. *The number of games counting towards qualifying may be increased prior to the start of the tournament depending on the final number of tournament games on location.
• Depending on the number of players approximately 40% of the field will qualify for finals, rounding up to maintain an even match play format.
• Finals will be begin at 5:30pm.
LOSE WEIGHT FOR CHARITY: Mark Brown and I will each be donating $1 for every pound lost by each tournament participant to the Pinball Outreach Project, a 501(c)(3) charity that brings the joy of pinball to children’s hospitals along the West Coast.
SIDE TOURNAMENT: Players who have shed at least 10 pounds (or 8% of their body weight) are eligible for the FREE “I Lost My Ass Playing Pinball” side tournament. Details to come.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Brian has a very sweet American Bulldog named Athena that only enjoys hiding from strangers. If you’d like to see a picture, please ask. UFC 209 will be live streamed somewhere in the house starting about 5pm. Almost every restaurant you can think of is within a mile of the house, but feel free to bring whatever food or drinks you'd like. There are a couple fridges and an outdoor gas grill. Purified and bottled water will be provided.
