Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: February 11, 2018

This event is designed to cater to both novice and experienced players alike. A Critical Hit Tournament combines a typical 3-strike pinball competition with a little Dungeons and Dragons thrown in to make things interesting! The use of "spell cards" enables players to potentially alter the outcome of a match, giving newer players a confidence boost and collusion among the participants is encouraged!

Format: Match Play / 3-Strikes Tournament with Spell Cards
Cost: $10/person
Payout: 100% of entry fees (less the $1/person IFPA fee) to be paid to top 3 players of both A & B division, or to top 4 players overall if fewer than 24 competitors
Spell Cards: Every player will receive random spell cards at registration based upon your IFPA rank.

There are two phases to the tournament:

Phase One: Card earning phase/*division qualifying: 11am - 2pm
Players will be placed into random groups of 4 (sometimes 3) with games and positions randomly assigned. Points are awarded (3/2/1/0) and added to a running total for Phase One. The top two players after each game will earn a spell card. No spell cards are used during this phase.

Division tiebreakers will occur ASAP once Phase One rounds have completed.

*Minimum 24 players required for separate divisions (A & B). If fewer than 24 players enter tournament, then all players will compete in Phase Two (3-strike tournament).

Meal Break: 2pm-3:30pm

Phase Two: 3-strike Tournament: starts at 3:30pm sharp!
In this phase players will be able to cast their spell cards. Players will be broken into A & B Divisions and then placed into random groups of 4 (sometimes 3) with the bottom two players receiving a strike after each game. In the case of a 3 player group, only the 3rd place player will receive a strike. Players are eliminated from the tournament once they receive 3 strikes.
