Tournament Overview
Start Date: January 06, 2019
End Date: January 20, 2019
We play 3-4 week league format. The first two (three if the month has five Sundays) Sundays we will play four games each to determine seed.
The third (fourth if the month has five Sundays) Sunday of league play will be finals of top 50% in A division (maximum of eight players)
We divide into groups. Four player groups are preferred. To accommodate last minute arrivals we may split into groups of three. On rare occasions there may be two league players and a guest.
Each group plays four games chosen at random from all functioning games that day. Preference is given to games not yet chosen.
Four player group scoring is 8-6-4-2 , three player group scoring is 8-5-2, two player group scoring is 8-2.
Finals format will be PAPA scoring of 4-2-1-0. Top half of the field will be A division, maximum of eight players. The lower half will be B division, maximum twelve players. If we have more than twenty league participants at finals we will also have a C division. If that happens top 8 will be A, next 8 will be B, remainder will be C division.
Each division top finisher gets a bye into finals. The remainder of the division will compete in a matchplay event consisting of four or three player groups competing on three games chosen at random. Scoring will be 4-2-1-0. Top x scores at the end of the round advance until we have only three players advancing to face the division winner.
The final round is a four game match. Division winner has choice of game or position for each of the four games. No game can be chosen more than once in the final round by each division. Different divisions may choose the same game. Players are seeded by point total on the day of finals. Tiebreakers are determined by league regular season finishing position. After the division winner makes their choice, highest seed chooses game or position, then next highest seed, then final seed. After the game is completed the division winner chooses next game or position and the process repeats until four games have been played.
