A small side tournament will also be held after the main state championship tournament is finished.
This side tournament is open to the public to play in (not just the top 16 players in the main tournament).
A $1 fee per player will be charged and collected and sent in to IFPA to cover IFPA tournament endorsement fees. An additional small fee may also be collected to cover cost of trophy for 1st place winner.

Side tournament: Varkon Pinball Challenge
The Varkon pinball machine will only be used in the side tournament, and not in the main tournament.
Initial round: Each player entered will get to play 2 games on Varkon, recording both scores, with the highest of the two scores being used to rank the players. The four players with the highest scores will advance to the play-offs. For the play-off round, all four players will play 1 game, and the players with the two highest scores will advance to the finals. The two players with the lower scores will finish in 3rd and 4th places. For the finals round, a 2-player game will be played to decide 1st and 2nd place. A trophy or plaque will be given to the winner. All players entered will earn IFPA points. If Varkon machine were to break down and can't be fixed in a timely manner, then an alternate machine will be selected by the tournament director.
