Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: September 24, 2022
The first 4 tournaments have been submitted to the IFPA website for approval on their end for ranking purposes, Those Dates are for 8-27, 9-24, 10-29, and 11-26. The format being used will be a 5 strike knockout tournament using the "Fair Strike" rule set which is as follows...
Players will play in groups of 3 or 4 people per machine. In a four-player game, first place will get 0 strikes, second place will get 1 strike, third place will get 1 strike, and fourth place will get 2 strikes (0/1/1/2). In a three-player game, first place will get 0 strikes, second place will get 1 strike, third place will get 2 strikes (0/1/2) Five strikes and you are eliminated from the tournament. The tournament will resume until there is only one player without five strikes!
Tournament will start at 3pm and registered participants will have from when we open until then to warm up and feel out the games. We will be using the same match play website that we use for our league on a swiss pairing setting which is as follows...
Players are paired with opponents who have roughly the same amount of points (in match play-style tournaments) or strikes (in knockout tournaments). For knockout tournaments in particular, Swiss pairings is an effective way to cut down the amount of rounds required.
In head-to-head tournaments, a simple attempt to pick opponents that haven't been faced before in the tournament will occur, but only among players who are tied. In group tournaments, no such attempt will be made. It is normal for a player to play against the same opponent multiple times when using swiss pairings.
The cost for the tournament has been set to $5
