Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: December 30, 2023
DOORS OPEN AT 11AM, COMPETITION BEGINS AT 12PM
Entry Fee: $20 (includes $10 to prize fund)
Prize Fund: 50% to "A" Division and 50% to "B" Division as defined below (with 50% to first, 35% to second, 15% to third within each division).
ATTENTION North Texas Pinball Players: This is one of your of your LAST TWO opportunities to earn 2023 WPPRs!
This tournament will be Group Matchplay and we will do will do 6 rounds in groups of 4 with two games per round, for a total of 12 games played. This will be in honor of the 12th month of the year, December, because why not? The initial seeding will be random for the first round, with balanced seeding for subsequent rounds. Arena assignment will be balanced as well.
After 6 rounds of qualifying, the TOP 12 will be invited to play in the finals, with the TOP 4 of those 12 receiving a BYE. These are the "A" division players. If necessary, we will do a tiebreaker game for 4th and 12th on a game randomly selected from available Solid State and EM games (no DMD/modern for tiebreaker).
We will be doing an AMAZING RACE format for the finals, with the top 4 who receive a BYE entering the race at Game 5. Finishing order for the race will determine the final standings for the top 12 in the tournament. Open to suggestions on how we decide the games in the race or the order of play.
The remainder of the field will be considered the "B" division and will be invited to participate in a 3X (Three Strike) tournament with strikes awarded for third and fourth in a 4 player game and only third in a 3 player game. The Top 12 A division players are NOT eligible to play in the 3X. This separate 3X will NOT affect standings in the Group Matchplay Tournament for the B division players, per IFPA rules. It is for fun, bragging rights, and 50% of the prize fund (with 50% to first, 35% to second, 15% to third).
Important Notes:
Bottled water and some soda will be provided; the coolers will likely be outside (it should be cold!). We will plan to make some food (TBD), and welcome you to bring any food you might like to share with others potluck style. We have little to no fridge space available, so please feel free to bring your coolers and any drinks you might like to enjoy responsibly yourself or share with others. Smoking is fine in the backyard.
Allergy Notice:
A dog and two cats also live here and will be in a separate room during the event. Please plan accordingly if you are allergic.
Thank you for your support and PLAY MORE PINBALL!
