Central Minnesota Pinball League - Winter 2024 season
Beginner and novice players are encouraged to join - playing with others is a fantastic way to improve your pinball skills!
• We meet up every Thursday at Midtown Bar in St Cloud at 6:30pm unless stated differently on Central MN Pinball Facebook page. Inclement weather, Holidays or other special events may change this to another day of the week as necessary.
• All skill levels are welcome
• Our season will consist of 6 weeks of matchplay & 1 finals week.
• Your top 4 out of 6 weeks count towards your season score to qualify for finals. This way you can miss 2 weeks, or the system will drop 2 of your bottom scores. Players must attend at least 3 weeks of the season to count toward the final IFPA standings submission.
• League dues are $20 per season (+ pinball game cost) and will go towards cash payout prizes, any swag/trophies awarded & admin fees.
• Drop-ins are welcome, $5 per week. If you're on the fence about joining or have a friend that wants to try it out before committing to the whole season, it's only $5.00 (+ pinball game cost) to play for one night, then if you decide to join, pay the remaining balance at the next meeting.
• We use Match Play Events to keep score.
• SCORING - 4 player groups are 7,5,3,1 or 3 player groups are 7,4,1
• You’ll play 6 games each week in a group of 3 or 4, depending on how many players attend.
• Top 16 or less of league qualifiers will advance to finals in week 7. IFPA allows top 50% or less of participants to advance to finals, and this will be based on # of players attending 3 or more weeks. Finals will be a Papa style matchplay elimination bracket with 4 player groups where top 2 advance til final 4. Scoring will be 4, 2, 1, 0 for finals. # of games in each group level will be decided based on number advancing to finals. If 8 or less advance, there will be 4 games per round. If 9-16 players advance to finals, the finals format will consist of 3 games per round. Even number of qualifiers in finals to allow for any possible first round byes as necessary.
• If you did not make finals, YOU STILL PLAY on the day of FINALS in the CONSOLATION tournament (format depends on # of players).
• Top 8 in finals (assuming greater than 16 league participants) will receive prize pool payout based on entry fees minus admin/swag/trophy fees. In addition, 10% of the overall prize pool will be reserved to payout in the consolation tournament (# of places to payout based on number of players)
SEASON 1 CALENDAR:
• 2/15/24 - Week #1
• 2/22/24 - Week #2
• 2/29/24 - Week #3
• 3/7/24 - Week #4
• 3/14/24 - Week #5
• 3/21/24 - Week #6
• 3/28/24 - FINALS (week 7)
Midtown Bar will be contributing a minimum of $200 to the overall prize pool for main finals (50%) and consolations tournament (50%). Contribution from the bar may be higher depending on league turnout. This money, plus all entry fees will be paid out to players after IFPA fees are paid ($1/player). In addition, if any prizes such as trophies or swag need to be purchased, will be taken out of entry fees before prize fees are awarded. All players will also receive 1 free drink ticket upon entry fee being paid (once per season). This is different than the past 1 free drink per week, because the bar is now contributing to the overall prize pool for all entrants to win, including in the consolation tournament.
