Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: March 19, 2025

Join us at NTX Pinball (where it’s always a work in progress… or IS it? ????) for a BEGINNER-FRIENDLY event! Come hang with the North Texas Pinball Players and play REAL pinball machines, just like in the arcades!

In case you were wondering, WTF isn’t what you think—this event is on Wednesday, and We Will FLIP! Wednesdays That FLIP… get it? COOL ????

This pinball tournament is IFPA-sanctioned, meaning you can earn WPPRs (Worldwide Pinball Player Ranking Points)! ???????? Also COOL! ????

???? New to tournaments? No worries!
If it’s your first time, DON’T WORRY—plenty of people will be available to help you understand the structure and even offer tips on how to play.

???? Entry is just $15, with all games on FREE PLAY—no coins required!
???? FIRST-TIME IFPA players get in for only $5! ????

???? ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE
? 6:30 PM – DOORS OPEN for Practice
???? 7:20 PM – MEETING to review format & answer questions
???? GROUP PHOTO after the meeting
???? 7:30 PM – COMPETITION begins (as close to this time as possible)
? 9:00 PM – Latest time for new entrants
? 11:30 PM – Expected completion of finals

???????? FOOD & DRINK
Bottled water and some soda will be provided in the BLACK fridge. ????
???? A tip box will be on top of the fridge to help keep it stocked for future events.
???? A 5-gallon water cooler will be available—bring your own bottle!
We’re likely making mac & cheese again, maybe another dish, or possibly ordering some cheap pizza. ????
Feel free to bring any food or drinks to enjoy or share. ?????
???? We’ll update the event’s discussion tab with the food / drink plans as we get closer, and encourage you to do the same if you like!
???? Alcohol is fine—just drink responsibly and plan for transportation if needed. ????

???? THE FORMAT:
This is a BEAT THE CLOCK tournament featuring a THREE-HOUR qualifying period in Group Match Play format (4- or 3-player groups with 7/5/3/1 scoring). The top 8 players will advance to the finals. To encourage the social aspect, random seeding will be used for Round 1, with balanced pairing for subsequent rounds.
If there’s a tiebreaker for 8th place, it will be settled with a randomly selected fast-playing game (TBD).

???? FINALS:
After a short break, the Top 8 Qualifiers will compete in the AMAZING RACE FINALS!
???? In this single-player elimination format, all 8 finalists will play Game 1, with the lowest score eliminated. Game 2 proceeds with 7 players, Game 3 with 6, and so on. This continues until Game 7, where the final two players battle it out head-to-head to determine the WoWTF (Winner of WTF)!

???? The Match Play randomizer will select 7 games for the finals. The Top Qualifier (decided by rock, paper, scissors in case of a tie ????) will choose which game (out of the 7) starts the race. For example, if they pick Game 5, the race will follow this order: 5?? ? 6?? ? 7?? ? 1?? ? 2?? ? 3?? ? 4??—with the final game on Game 4. The top seed can also defer the choice to the 2nd highest seed and so on.

???? SMOKERS:
Smoking tobacco, "legal" cannabis, or vaping is fine in the backyard.
???? Be mindful of ashes on dry grass & dispose of waste properly.

???????? ALLERGY / PET NOTICE:
We have a dog & two cats—they’ll be in a separate room for most of the event.
???? We may let the dog outside before finals—she’s (somewhat, LOL) well-behaved and should not be a nuisance.

???? PARKING & SAFETY:
???? Please lock your car doors!
??????? Plenty of parking is available within walking distance.
???? Consider carpooling from the Kroger shopping plaza to reduce neighborhood traffic.

???? We’re looking forward to playing more PINBALL with YOU!

See you there!
