Interstellar Classic Target Match Play is a co-located tournament with Lynn’s Seaburgh. The entry fee is included with the main tournament. If a player only wants to play in this sideshow, the arcade entry and tournament fee is $30 for non-MFP members and $10 for members. All games are on free play and practice on games between rounds is allowed. Standard IFPA competition rules apply for malfunctions & rulings, machine settings and player conduct. All games in the tournament are pre-DMD era games. Exceptions to the game pool are adjusted at the discretion of the tournament director based on game availability and attendance.

This is a Group Match Play tournament with players divided into 4 player groups with 3/2/1/0 scoring or 3/1.5/0 for 3 player groups. Random seeding for the first round and Swiss pairing in the remaining rounds. One game is played per round. The first 24 players (or less depending on attendance) that reaches 24 points will advance to a PAPA style group elimination bracket. Top 8 players receives one bye round (bye rounds adjusted based on attendance). Meaningful ties will be broken on a game selected by the tournament director. If 24 players haven’t reached 24 points after 20 rounds, qualifying ends and the qualifying standings are finalized where the results sit.

Players are seeded in qualification order and divided into four players groups. The scoring remains the same, 3/2/1/0. Top seed picks (or defers) a predetermined bank of 4 games from qualifying. A bank can’t be picked more than once by the same player throughout the playoffs. A single bank can only be picked by two groups per round, game order is selected by the player selecting the bank, if a second group picks the bank the games can’t be in overlapping order. The player order of the first game is determined by seed, a deferral will allow the deferring player to pick position. Players may continue to defer until the last seed in the group. Subsequent order of games in the round are determined by the results of the previous game where the last placing player picks first.

There will be a break between qualifying rounds and the playoffs. No payouts. Hardware for top 4.

The tournament starts at 11am and make sure to be registered before 10:45am to participate, doors at 10am. Players who are late may be added between rounds.
