***** THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: This is a best game/classics tournament + finals. *****
QUALIFYING: Qualifying begins on Friday, January 30th at 1:00 PM and ends at 11:45 PM. Players have 16 attempts to put up their best scores across a bank of 8 machines that will count towards qualifying. Only 7 scores will count. PAPA-style finals with 4-player groups on banks of 3 of the qualifying games. The tournament will run on next.matchplay.events. Designated scorekeepers will be entering all scores and monitoring play. Game scores must be single player.
A PAPA-style finals will be held on Sunday, February 2nd at 9:00 AM. The top 16 players will advance. Top 4 players will receive cash prizes.
TIEBREAKERS: Ties will only be broken when a player's participation in the finals is impacted. The tie will be settled by a one-game tiebreaker, with the game randomly selected. Ties that impact whether or not the involved players will advance will be settled by a one-game tiebreaker selected at random. Inconsequential ties will not be broken.
SEEDING: Seeding will be determined based on players’ qualifying results. Any ties among potential qualifiers who did not play in a tiebreaker will be determined by the strength-of-opponents as calculated by Matchplay.Events.
PLAYOFFS/FINALS: Finals begin on Sunday, February 1st at 9:00 AM. Players must check-in no later than 8:45am, or they forfeit their Finals spot. All finalists will be divided into groups of four players based on standard seeding procedures. For the first three rounds, the group will play three separate four-player games. Each four-player game will be scored as follows: (4,2,1,0). The highest-seeded player within each group may choose either: (1) the machines to be played or (2) the order of play.
If the highest-seeded player chooses order of play, the remaining players may choose their order, in descending order of seeding, and choice of machine then goes to the next highest-seeded player in the group. Conversely, if the highest-seeded player chooses the machine to be played, then the next highest-seeded player chooses the order of play, with the remaining players choosing order of play in decreasing order of seeding. To the degree possible, no group may select a machine which has already been selected by a group in the same round. When all three games have been completed by a group, each player will have a point total for that round in their division. Two players will advance from each group to the following round.
For the final round (where only 4 players remain), the highest seeded player remaining will have the choice of their order of play. The games for that round will be chosen randomly from the qualifying bank using the Matchplay software.
