Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: July 19, 2025

Schedule:
11 AM: 4 player group matchplay, as many rounds as we can start in three hours - $5 entry plus coin drop
~2 PM: Hour lunch break, starting after the last round finishes
~3 PM: Pace Matchplay tournament, specific details depending on number of participants - $5 entry plus coin drop

Payouts:
1st Place: 40% of prize pool
2nd Place: 30% of prize pool
3rd Place: 20% of prize pool
4th Place: 10% of prize pool

All games will be played at Brewhalla when possible, if the number of players outnumbers the available machines, or some event has taken over that side of the building, we'll use Drekker as needed.

What is Pace Matchplay? It's a newer format added to Matchplay's software recently. To summarize, players play games and receive points just like a normal matchplay tournament, however everyone is trying to stay above a moving elimination line that increases each round. For example the line could be set to eliminate players at the end of round 3, with players needing 7 or more points to avoid elimination, and that amount increasing by 7 points each round (14 points needed after round 4, 21 after round 5, etc)

Qualifying will be this Pace Matchplay tournament, with exact settings to be figured out depending on how many people show up. I'll aim for a three hour qualifying session. If the software has issues or the format doesn't seem to work for the amount of people we have, I'll switch to target matchplay instead.

Finals will take the remaining four or less players and play one random game, with play order decided by finishing position in qualifying. Players must be above the elimination line to qualify for this final, however payouts will still be to the top 4 regardless of how many make the finals.

Any tiebreakers for payout positions will be done on a single random game.

More details about the format can be found at https://docs.matchplay.events/tournament-formats/direct-play-tournaments/pace-match-play
